Grand Finals

Our U13 Reds and U13 Blues both play in Grand Finals this coming weekend. The Blues have a 7.30pm start at Ryde on Friday night, 3 September. The Reds have a 10am start at Ryde on Saturday, 4 September.

All supporters welcome. Both games are against strong Ryde teams, so all available help is needed.

Nexus Estate Agents are proud to support the Gordon North Sydney Juniors Hockey Club. The club is one of the largest junior hockey clubs in Sydney, boasting nine teams ranging from Under 11s through to Under 15s. Both boys and girls have the opportunity to play and all teams are mixed.

In recent years Gordon North Sydney has seen three players achieve international recognition, playing for our national Olympic Gold Medal winning team the Kookaburras. Brent Livermore has captained the side, playing alongside Matthew Butterini and Jamie Dwyer, who has been named World Player of the Year three times. The Juniors division of the Gordon North Sydney Club has produced a number of State Representative players in various age groups.

Steve Hankins, Director of Nexus Estate Agents and former First Team player, is delighted to be able to support the future stars of the Gordon North Sydney Hockey Club. “Having played hockey at a top level for many years, I am pleased for Nexus Estate Agents to be able to support the Junior Club and give something back to the sport that has given me so much enjoyment. We hope this will be the beginning of a long-standing relationship with the club.”

Sydney Boys Trials for 2011

Trials are on 22 and 29 August 2010 at Cintra.

U11 - 7am
U13 - 8.30am
U15 - 10.30am

This is the North Area part of the trials. If successful, the boys move to the Sydney Area trials on 5 September at Cintra.

More GNS Junior Success

Two recent juniors have been selected for the NSW All Schools team to play in the nationals in Perth later this year. Congratulations to Georguia Honey and Jessica Langham. This follows Georgia Honey, Clare Johnston and Brendan Harlech Jones being selected for the U15 State squads.

Welcome to the 2010 Season

This year we have a new Junior Convenor - in Peter Langham - who intends to continue the good work that Tim Skidmore has done over the past few years.

GNS is very proud to be one of the largest clubs in NSW with one of the largest junior sections.

Our aim is to ensure all the kids enjoy hockey at all levels. That means it has to be fun, easy to do, but also provide the best possible coaching to develop skills. We are lucky enough to have many experienced parents and coaches to assist in development and very proud that a high number of our juniors play representative hockey, including NSW representatives.

This year will be no different in our efforts. We will not just have team coaches but skills coaches assisting on Thursday nights to work on individuals’ particular skills. In addition, we aim to have a few social functions during the year and find ways in which parents can interact more.

To this end we have age group coordinators that will not just be able to answer your questions, but will be looking to get the parents more involved. Later on we will be calling for volunteers to help out in many different ways.

You may like to volunteer now. It’s better to choose the task you want!
