GNS PREMIER DIVISION – REVIEW ROUND 4, GNS vs UTS

audialtologoA beautiful balmy Autumn night at Olympic Park watching Premier Division men’s hockey is always a pleasant way to spend a Saturday evening.

After GNS’s late capitulation against the premiers on the previous week’s round the players were keen to make good for the important match against UTS. While it was a subdued start during the first few minutes the intensity lifted when Robbie Muir made a couple of hard challenges that seemed to bring play to life. While closely marked as always Robbie Campbell started exerting his influence and Quentin Pursey regained his touch with some excellent play from midfield.

Match Report P1 GNS v Ryde

GNS PREMIER DIVISION – GNS vs RYDE

Another very warm day was in store for the players although fortunately not as oppressive as the previous week. A late change to the line up due to the unavailability of Quentin Pursey resulted in the debut of exciting new forward Rhys Henwood off the bench. Rhys is yet another of the highly talented brigade from Grafton who recently moved to Sydney seeking his fame and fortune.

The match opened at a frenetic pace where both teams utilised the new free hit rule to try to and force their markers into error. Ryde made some impressive passing movements that tested the GNS defensive structure however it held firm due to the excellent work in the midfield and at the back where Jason Coombes was outstanding.Equally in touch were the GNS forwards that showed great skill and speed with the ball.
